چکیده

A random process corresponding to an autonomous oscillator with random parameters depends on the choice of a phase condition is considered. An appropriate quantification of uncerntainties is achieved by a random process with a minimal total variance. The authors has shown a necessary condition for an optimal solution using the calculus of variations. A corresponding numerical method has been constructed based on expansions of the random process as well as the random period in the generalised polynomial chaos. A Galerkin projection yields a larger coupled system to determine an approximation of the random process and the random period. The authors resolved the stochastic model for two test examples, where a minimal total variance is achieved. Elementary phase conditions may result in suboptimal random process. Some phase conditions yield a larger variance as shown in the numerical simulations.

Numerical solution of second-order stochastic differential equations with Gaussian random parameters

In this paper, we present the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations (or SDEs), from each order especially second-order with time-varying and Gaussian random coefficients. We indicate a complete analysis for second-order equations in special case of scalar linear second-order equations (damped harmonic oscillators with additive or multiplicative noises). Making stochastic differe...

Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Cutting Stress in End Milling of Titanium Alloy using Carbide Coated Tool

Based on the cutting force theory, the cutting stress in end milling operation was predicted satisfactorily through simulation of using finite element method. The mechanistic force models were introduced in high accuracy force predictions for most applications. The material properties in the simulations were defined based on the cutting force theory, as a function of strain and strain rate wher...

Dynamical Analysis of a Biped Locomotion CPG Modelled by Means of Oscillators

The study of mechanisms like mechanical members intends not only to build autonomous robots, but also to help in the rehabilitation of human being. The study of locomotion to take part in this context, and has been intensively studied since the second half of 20th century. An ample vision of the state of the technique up to 1990 can be found in works as Raibert (1986) and Vukobratovic et al. (1...

Modelling and Simulation of a Transformer With Inter-turn Fault Including Saturation Effect and Variable Fault Parameters

This investigation deals with a mathematical model for a distribution transformer including saturation effect. To this end, the equations related to a three phase transformer are specified and the effect of an inter-turn fault is included. Naturally by applying an inter-turn fault the inductance and resistance matrix will change. Thus, unknown quantities of inductances and resistances for compl...

Comparative Study of Random Matrices Capability in Uncertainty Detection of Pier’s Dynamics

Because of random nature of many dependent variables in coastal engineering, treatment of effective parameters is generally associated with uncertainty. Numerical models are often used for dynamic analysis of complex structures, including mechanical systems. Furthermore, deterministic models are not sufficient for exact anticipation of structure’s dynamic response, but probabilistic models...
